Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today urged Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for sustained and uninterrupted gas supply to small tea growers.

Sonowal, in a telephonic discussion with the Union Minister, sought to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to tea gardens and soon start the construction work of a super speciality hospital in Sivasagar, proposed by the ONGC.

Pradhan assured all cooperation in supplying gas to small tea growers and assured that construction work of the hospital in Sivasagar would soon be started, the Chief Minister said in a statement today.

"People of Assam have posed their faith on the present government in the state and it is the duty of the government to listen to their grievances and take remedies," he said.

Moreover, to understand the feelings of the people, the government was engaged in interactive programmes with the people, Sonowal said.

People should maintain a strict vigil on the activities of the government which "is vital for good governance."

Assam can become one of the front running states in the country if there was synergy between the government, public representatives and the people, and all have to work with utmost diligence and sincerity, Sonowal added.
