Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today inaugurated a liver transplant unit in a private hospital and said that it would meet a long felt need of the state.
Many patients with liver ailments were required to go outside the state for treatment and many could not afford that, Sonowal said adding that they would now be able to avail treatment at this unit in the Down Town Hospital.
The chief minister said that the state government has taken many steps for uplift of the state's health sector and setting up of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the state was a huge fillip in this regard.
