Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed with him various issues, including how to to spruce up internal security mechanism in the state.
Gogoi discussed with Singh the status of ceasefire agreement that the government has with different militant groups and how to bring permanent peace.
The Chief Minister discussed with the Home Minister the prevailing law and order in the state and other pending issues and requested him to do the needful.
Gogoi also submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister seeking help from the Centre for raising a new police battalion for Assam and devising rehabilitation package for surrendered militants.
