Assam CM's son, 5 others accused of violating MCC

Inquiry was ordered by Assam CEO Vijayendra into allegations of violation of the Model Code of Conduct by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi's son, four ministers and a Congress MLA in the run-up to the three phase Lok Sabha polls in the state.

The Chief Minister's son Gaurav Gogoi, a Congress candidate from Kaliabor constituency, was accused of not submitting a detailed account of his wealth and assets in his affidavit filed during nomination, election office sources said today.

Ministers Gautam Roy, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Pradyut Bordoloi and Akon Bora were also accused of violating the Model Code, the sources said.
 

The BJP had complained against Sarma, the Health and Education minister for allegedly distributing cheques to voters in his constituency.

Roy, Public Health and Engineering minister was accused by the BJP of distributing cash and sweets in a hospital.
