Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today directed officials of different departments to clear pending files immediately.

According to an official release, Sonowal held a meeting with senior officials of all departments and told them to clear pending files with immediate effect in the interests of people.

"If there is any problem in clearing any file as per government rules, people have the right to know about it. Officials must ensure that people coming to Dispur do not face any harassment or inconvenience in the process of clearing pending files," he said.

The Chief Minister directed the Revenue and Disaster Management Department to conduct a survey of all types of land to get a clear picture of the land status.

Underscoring the need for toning up the Assam Accord Implementation Department, he asked the officials to submit in details the manpower and funds required.

Sonowal also spoke to the officials dealing with 'Char Areas Development' and was keen in getting first-hand knowledge about schemes being implemented for development of those areas.

He directed the Welfare of Minorities and Development Department to initiate steps in right earnest to ensure hassle-free travel for Haj pilgrims, besides discussing land status in bordering areas and border disputes, involving both inter-state and international borders.

"With high hopes and expectations, the people have brought this new dispensation to power. It is only when the officials and employees work with utmost sincerity, the government will be able to deliver good governance," Sonowal said.
