Assam forms one-man panel to probe advocate murder

Assam Government today said an enquiry committee headed by Additional Chief Secretary (Industries, Commerce, Mines and Minerals) RT Jindal has been formed to investigate the murder of senior advocate and businessman Binoy Kumar Ghosh.

"The state government vide a notification issued on September 25, 2014, has constituted a one-man enquiry committee headed by RT Jindal, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Industries and Commerce, Mines and Minerals Department," an official release said.

The Committee is constituted to enquire into the incident of murder of Ghosh by unknown miscreants early morning of August 29, 2014 at his residence in Mangaldai town in Darrang district, it added.
 

"The Commission will ascertain facts and circumstances leading to the murder of Ghosh and will determine if there were any lapses on the part of any authority for providing security to Ghosh. And if so, will fix responsibility thereof," the statement said.

Besides inquiring into any other matter relevant to the case, the Committee will also suggest measures so that such incidents do not recur.

The Committee will submit its report within 30 days from the date of issue of the notification, the release said.
