The main opposition All India United Democratic Front in Assam today accused the Congress- led state government of failing in implementing minority welfare schemes.
During Question Hour, AIUDF MLA Abdur Rahman Ajmal raised the issue of fund allocation under Multi-Sectoral Development Programme (MSDP) during the 11th Five Year Plan in 13 minority concentrated districts of Assam.
Not satisfied with the written reply by Welfare of Minorities Minister Nazrul Islam, Ajmal said there is a gap of two years between sanction and release of funds under MSDP.

This did not satisfy the AIUDF members, including Monowar Hussain and Abdur Rahim Khan, who alleged that less than one- fourth of the Rs 703 crore sanctioned to Assam during the 11th Plan period for MSDP has been released.
The minister replied DCs of various districts have been told to hold quarterly meeting of the Prime Minister's new 15-point programme for welfare of minorities and send the minutes to the state government.
"Regarding funds, once utilisation certificate for the first instalment is sent, then the centre will release the rest," Islam said.
