The format has been introduced to enable deputy commissioners and other officials to consolidate official process and systems apart from enhancing transparency and accountability in an attempt to improve governance, Commissioner of Hills and Barak Valley Division M Ariz Ahmed told reporters here today.

Ahmed stressed on early completion of the east-west corridor for the development of the districts and pointed out that a meeting will be soon held with officials of National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) next month.

He underlined the importance of solar power projects in the border areas of the districts which would help not only to improve the power scenario in remote areas but also help BSF personnel in patrolling the borders..

He said there was no dearth of funds but the problem was in implementation of projects and stressed the need for monitoring progress of various schemes and projects at regular intervals.

''It is important that in order to prevent leakage in implementation of development schemes and projects, monitoring should be given priority'', he said.

He also highlighted the importance of each persons participation in the process of development.
