Assam Government is making all efforts to provide IT infrastructure throughout the state with special emphasis on rural areas, state minister for Information Technology Keshab Mahanta said today.
Inaugurating a workshop on Village Knowledge Centre, Broadband and Citizen Service Mission under the Chief Minister's Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY) here, Mahanta said village knowledge centres will be the entry points of CMSGUY.
He stressed on use of IT to make Assam technologically advanced and adapt the latest technology for upliftment of the society.

Speaking on the occasion, Director of IIIT-Guwahati Prof Gautam Baruah suggested that the government prepare plans in such a way that it can be implemented by adapting new and latest technology.
Prof Baruah was also for developing of data content in local languages for benefit of the rural population.
Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Finance V B Pyarelal and Additional Chief Secretary in-charge Information Technology Alok Kumar also spoke on the occasion.
In the day long technical session, representatives from various government and non-government organisations such as NABARD, Yes Bank, Vodafone, SAHAJ e-village, NIC, NESAC and Akruti discussed on the process of bringing digital skills to villages.
