Assam govt to fill up over 1 lakh vacancies

Assam government will provide employment to over one lakh people across various departments in the future, the state Assembly was told today.

Presenting the 2014-15 interim budget, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said, "I have asked all the departments to provide appointments against all available vacancies numbering around 1,00,927 in a time-bound manner."

Since 2005-06, the government has created 1,15,439 new posts, of which 20,692 have been created during the current financial year, he added.

"Approval was also given to fill up 86,172 vacant sanctioned posts. My government has given appointment to 1,00,684 persons since 2005-06," Gogoi, who is also the state Finance Minister said in the House.
