Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit today expressed concern over the attack and ransacking of the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) office at Silapathar in Assam's Dhemaji district and condemned it.
"Ransacking the AASU Office in Silapathar is an act of cowardice. I condemn the act," the governor said in a statement here.
The perpetrators of the incident will be dealt with sternly according to the law of the land and nobody would be allowed to go scot-free, he added.

Members and supporters of Nikhil Bharat Bengali Udbastu Samanvay Rakhi Samiti (NiBBUSS) had on Monday last organised a meeting at Silapathar demanding Indian citizenship for Hindu migrants from Bangladesh.
After the meeting the NiBBUSS members took out a procession and then attacked an AASU office by the side of National Highway 15(B), vandalised it and injured three of its members.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered an inquiry by Additional Chief Seretary V B Pyarelal. The report would be submitted in a month.
