Assam Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya today wished people of the state on the eve of 'Buddha Purnima' and called for spreading the message of goodwill of Lord Buddha.
"We are fortunate that crores of his followers are there in neighbouring countries like Thailand, Korea, Bhutan, Japan along with other countries and India's 'Look East' Policy can be made more effective based on the goodwill of these crores of Lord Buddha's followers", he said.
Acharya in this context referred to the fact that North-east was the gateway of the Centre's 'Look East' policy.
On this auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima, "We all bow our heads with great reverence to Lord Buddha who made India great and who made the country a pilgrimage centre for crores of people from all over the world irrespective of caste, creed and race," the Governor said.
