Haloi, who led the Indian team to Bulgaria recently, won gold medals in two events - Tau lu (open) and Light contact (55 kg).

He had earlier lifted the gold medal in the World Martial Art Championship held in Kuwait last year.

Haloi, who was felicitated here by the All Assam Students' Union (AASU), urged the state government to provide him with a job, even if it is in the fourth grade, to bail him out of the acute financial crisis being faced by him.

"Even my joining the World Championship remained uncertain due to lack of money but it was possible only after the Nalbari district unit of AASU extended help to me", he said.

Haloi also lamented that no MLA or minister from the district helped him financially to join the world championship.
