Ahmed, who had failed to appear before the court on two earlier occasions, made an appearance before SDJM Ratnadeep Bhattacharjee yesterday who granted him bail in the case filed by Sirajuddin at the Nilambazar police station under sections 352/323 IPC.
According to the case diary, Sirajuddin was attacked by a group of people led by Siddeque Ahmed, who was then a Parliamentary Secretary, and his supporters. Sirajuddin was seriously injured and had to be hospitalized.
Sirajuddin in his complaint alleged that besides being beaten up, he was robbed of his money and cell phone.
