A member of the Assam Legislative Assembly today used Facebook Live for allegedly telecasting his speech in the House to the people of his constituency.

"One member has switched on the Facebook Live function so that people in his constituency can hear him while talking in the House. This is not good," state Parliamentary Affairs minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said in the Assembly.

The incident took place during the post-lunch session while the House was discussing a private member's resolution over timely solution to the illegal immigration problem.

When members of the House pressed for making the name public, Patowary said, "I will not name him. But, this should not be done. We should not use technology in unfair means. Please don't do it again."

When contacted, Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami said outside the House some members have verbally complained to him about the issue.

"I have asked members to give me a written complaint. After that I will see and comment on the matter," he added.
