Assam provides financial aid to set up Vaishnavite centre in

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today announced an assistance of Rs 50 lakh for setting up of a 'Namghar' (Vaishnavite spiritual and cultural centre) in Bengaluru.

The financial assistance will be given as part of the state government's initiative to propagate the philosophy and teachings of Assam's Vaishnavite saint Srimanta Sankardeva at national and international fora, according to an official release.

The Government has already taken steps to set up 'Namghars' in New Delhi and other places of the country.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has also directed Industry and Commerce Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary to represent Assam in the Eighth Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2017 which began today.
