Assam resident held with US-made revolver, fake currency in

One person was arrested and a US-made revolver with four rounds and fake currency with face value of Rs 8,000 seized from him in Samba district here.

Acting on a specific intelligence input, police raided Shivam Guest House on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway at Samba Chowk yesterday and arrested one person, hailing from Assam, Samba SSP, Anil Magotra said today.

The accused is identified as Innas Ali of Sub Division Hojal District Nagaon in Assam, the SSP said, adding, fake currency having face value of Rs 8,000 and US-made revolver with four rounds were seized from his possession.

However, his associate Raju Dass managed to escape and efforts are on to nab him.
 

The Police has registered an FIR under section 489-C of Ranbir Penal Code (dealing illegal currency) and relevant sections of Arms Act against him. The arrested person has been put to sustained interrogation to know about any militant link, he said.
