Assam Rifles rifleman killed as havildar fires at him

An Assam Rifles riflemen was killed after a havildar alleged fired at him from his service rifle at Komlakhong area in Manipur's Imphal West district.

Following a scuffle between the havildar Dayaram and rifleman Bhim on Sunday night at the 42 AR post, Dayaram allegedly opened fire from his assault rifle and Bhim died on way to military hospital, on that day itself, a senior police officer said quoting delayed reports.

The accused havildar Dayaram was arrested yesterday after a case was registered in this connection at Mayang Imphal police station, the officer said.

The deceased rifleman hailed from Madhya Pradesh while the accused havildar was from Uttar Pradesh.
 

The AR did not comment on the alleged incident.
