Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said the state's economy has stabilised and sought support from the Centre to continue with its development programmes in a sustainable way.
"We believe our economy has stabilised. If we get support from the Centre like earlier times, we will progress at a faster pace," Gogoi said during a discussion on the vote-on-account on the last day of the Assembly session.
Assam government, he said, will continue to press for its demand of restoration of special category status to Assam and funding pattern of central schemes.

"We need to do everything in a balanced way. We want to develop our industry on the basis of local resources and we are giving importance to rural development to generate more jobs," Gogoi said.
Huge investment is needed by the state, centre and private sector to uplift the rural economy, he said.
Stating that the state has witnessed return of peace along with development, the chief minister said "We have developed, but still a lot remains to be done.
"Development is a continuous process. It cannot be completed in just five years. It should be expedited every year and we have seen our progress growing each year," he added.
