Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said his government will seek review of Supreme Court's judgement clearing the decks for holding the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses for 2016-2017 academic year.
"The decision to hold single test for medical entrance might prove counter-productive for the students of Assam," Gogoi said in a statement.
The state government has, therefore, decided to seek a review of the Supreme Court's judgement on NEET, he said and urged the Centre to take up the matter in "right earnest".
The Supreme Court yesterday cleared the decks for holding of NEET, a single common entrance test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses, in two phases for the academic year 2016-17 in which around 6.5 lakh candidates are likely to appear.
