Police have traced a 22-year-old woman hailing from Assam, who was forced to work as domestic help in the national capital and Ludhiana, six years after she was lured to Delhi by her neighbour on the pretext of taking her on a holiday.
The woman was found working at a household in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh, a police officer said today.
In January 2014, a resident of Assam, approached Bachpan Bachao Andolan, an NGO founded by Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi, and told them that in 2012, her daughter, who was 16 then, had been kidnapped from their native place by a local manpower supply agent Deepak.
She told police that her daughter was sold to Jacob Deep who was running a placement agency at Taimur Nagar, Delhi.
Her husband also came to Delhi in search of their daughter but he was also detained by Deep at his office in Taimur Nagar, the police said.
On the basis of the information, a joint team of New Friends Colony police station and Bachpan Bachao Andolan was constituted and a raid was conducted in Taimur Nagar.

The victim's father was rescued but the victim was not found and on his statement, a case was registered against Deepak and Deep for confinement and trafficking, the police said.
Deep was arrested while Deepak was declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) and efforts were made to trace the victim but no clue was found.
The trafficked girl could not be traced and there was no clue of co-accused Deepak in the case. In 2015, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to trace the missing woman, the police said.
A reward of Rs 50,000 was also announced by the Dehi Police Commissioner for anyone who gave clues to the whereabouts of the victim.
The case was transferred to the anti-auto theft squad of southeast district.
The police team started from the very beginning and joined all possible links. Local sources were deployed and the teams raided different places in Ludhiana, Coimbatore, Assam and Delhi to get clue about her.
Subsequently, the victim was recovered from northwest Delhi Shalimar Bagh where she was found working as a maid.
Police said Deepak had convinced her to visit Delhi on vacation and sold her to Deep.
The officer said that efforts were being made to nab Deepak.
The woman told police that she was working as a domestic help out of her own will now.
