Polling is underway in the by-election to the Noksen Assembly seat in Tuensang district of Nagaland today.

A total of 12,074 voters, including 6,142 men and 5,832 women, would exercise their franchise in 21 polling stations spread over 19 villages, Tuensang Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer, Mhumbemo Lotha said.

The bye-poll to Noksen constituency is being held following resignation of Minister for School Education C M Chang on March 14.

As Chang wanted to come back to the state Assembly, he is fighting the bye-poll as a NPF candidate against Congress nominee Lima Onen Chang.

The Election Commission for the first time in country has introduced in the election the high-tech 'Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail' (VVPAT) with Electronic Voting Machines.
