The Tamil Nadu government today announced hiking the assistance to families of scribes who die in harness.
Information Minister Kadambur Raju told the state Assembly that the sum was being hiked from a minimum of Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000, while the maximum amount would be Rs three lakh from the existing Rs two lakh.
As per the announcement, the family of a deceased scribe with an experience of five years will now get an assistance of Rs 75,000.
The assistance will be Rs three lakh for the family of a deceased scribe with 20 years of experience, he said.
Raju further announced that the government would set up a memorial for Bharat Mata in Pennagaram in Dharmapuri district, and said the move was aimed at fulfilling the dream of freedom fighter Subramania Siva.
