ASI Pramod Chaturvedi had demanded the bribe from a factory owner Somnath to start investigation into a case filed by him against a salesman working at his firm, they said.
After verification of the complaint, a trap was laid and the accused, posted at Harigarh police station here, was caught while accepting the bribe.
Chaturvedi has been taken into custody, they added.
