The Tamil Nadu Student-Parents Welfare Assiociation has sought postponement of reopening of schools by ten days in view of the searing summer heat.
In a statement, state association president Arumainagayam said normally schools reopen on June one.
"The government should postpone this by ten days.It is the duty of the government to save the students from the scorching sun, just as it did during the rainy days," he said, adding, it was much hotter this year than last year.
Education department officials said schools reopen usually on June one. No step has been taken to postpone reopening of schools,they said.
