Asst Commissioner Sales Tax shot at near Kanpur rpt Kanpur

An Assistant Commissioner with sales tax department was shot at by two unidentified assailants in Kalyanpur area when he tried to stop them from robbing his friend, police said today.

The victim R S Mishra had gone for a morning walk in Bima Vihar Colony with his friend Ashok Kumar Singh, said SP(Rural) A K Mishra.

At this time, two unidentified men came on a bike and attempted to rob Ashok. When Mishra intervened and tried to stop the miscreants, they fired at him, SP (Rural) said.

According to the SP, Singh immediately informed the police who reached the spot and rushed Mishra to a hospital. His condition is stated to be out of danger.
 

"Two rounds were fired at the Assistant Commissioner," he added.

Police have registered a case in this connection and efforts are on to nab the accused.
