At 47.9, maximum temperature soars to new record in Nagpur

Nagpur today recorded a temperature of 47.9 degrees Celsius, the highest-ever for the city.

While the maximum temperature in Chandrapur, at 47.8 degrees Celcius yesterday, today soared further to 48.2.

Nagpur had recorded temperature of 47.8 degrees Celsius yesterday, to match the record which dated back 59 years, on May 26, 1954.

Amravati in western Vidarbha also recorded temperature of 48 degrees Celsius today.

The heat wave continued elsewhere in Vidarbha too. Akola recorded 45.2 degrees Celsius, Bramhapuri 47.6, Yavatmal 45.2, Gondia 46.1, Washim 43.9 and Wardha 47, Regional Meteorological Centre said.
