Nonagenarian Marxist leader V S Achutanandan, after making his presence felt in the micro blogging sites -- Facebook and Twitter, today launched a mobile app in his name to woo young voters ahead of the May 16 assembly polls in Kerala.

Amidst his busy schedule, the former Chief Minister, found time to get the app launched by national award winning film maker M G Shashi at a function held at the Palakaad Press club today.

Achutanandan, who is contesting from the Malampuzha constituency in Palakkad, also filed his nomination today.

The app was developed by a couple of software engineers at the Technopark here.

Those wishing to download the app will have to go to the Android phone playstore and type VS Achutanandan and download the app which would have Achutanandan's statements, audio and video gallery among others.

Achutanandan also has a website in his name.

His facebook posts are hugely popular with the masses as he has launched scathing attacks on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, alleging that the Congress-led government was corrupt.

Chandy has already sought an apology from him failing which he has threatened to sue the opposition leader and also file a complaint with the Election Commission.

CPI(M), which had once vehemently opposed introduction of computers and modern technology, seems to have woken up to the advantages of the social networking sites to connect with electorate, especially the younger and first time voters.
