Rajasthan BJP today accused Opposition Congress leaders of "politicising" BR Ambedkar's birth anniversary and claimed that the number of cases of "atrocities" against Dalits have reduced in the state during the tenure of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
"Congress considers Dalits as their vote bank but now Dalits are with BJP. As the Bhimrao Ambedkar birth anniversary is coming up, Congress is politicising it and giving statements on Dalit issues," Rajasthan BJP president Ashok Parnami said.
On the demand by Congress for a CBI inquiry into the rape and murder of a Dalit girl in Bikaner, Parnami said that they should "look at their previous government's rule before making such a demand".
Parnami said that the police arrested three persons, including physical trainer instructor Vijendra Singh, the hostel warden and the principal of the educational institute where the 17-year old Dalit girl was found dead allegedly after being raped in Bikaner last month.
