Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Manish Yaduvanshi remanded Nadeem Saifi to police custody after the police said his sustained interrogation was required to unearth the source of weapons with which the MLA was attacked.
Nadeem Saifi was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on July 13. The police told the court that Nadeem had disclosed that he had supplied three .30 bore pistols to Udaivir alias Kala, a co-accused in the case.
Nadeem was arrested on disclosure of Udaivir, who had allegedly providing weapons to his accomplices for committing the crime.
In its application for Nadeem's remand, the police said Nadeem had disclosed that he had purchased .30 bore weapons from one Sonu, a resident of Muzzafarnagar (UP), who used to meet him near Novelty cinema here.
He also said he can pinpoint the place and get Sonu arrested, said police in its application.
The Nazafgarh MLA, belonging to Indian National Lok Dal of Om Prakash Chautala, was shot at by assailants outside his office in a South West Delhi locality on June 2. Police had cited personal enmity as the reason behind the attack on him.
Vikas Dagar, 28, Kuldeep Mittal, 26, Sumeet Singh, 28 and Virendrer Sehrawat, 23, who are from Jharoda Kalan village of Delhi were arrested earlier in the case. Udaivir was nabbed after their arrest.
