Attack on Rashid: J&K CM says such incidents disturbing

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today condemned the ink attack on Independent MLA of the state Shiekh Abdul Rashid in New Delhi, saying the "spate in unpleasant incidents" is "most disturbing".

In a statement here, Sayeed said, "in a vibrant democracy like India, we need to have courage to respect dissent and provide space to different points of view."

He added tha, "the spate in unpleasant incidents such as this is most disturbing."

Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also condemned the attack on Rashid and said the "climate of intolerance and violence is very worrying".

"Attack on Eng. Rashid is unacceptable & condemned in the strongest possible terms. This climate of intolerance & violence is very worrying," Omar tweeted.
