With UGC directing Delhi University to scrap the four-year undergraduate programme, former HRD Minister M M Pallam Raju, who is a supporter of the FYUP, today said there was an attempt to politicise the issue.
"Unfortunately there is an attempt to politicise it, which should not be done," Raju told PTI.
Raju, who had defended the controversial FYUP, said the autonomy of the universities must be respected.

The former minister's comments came in the light of the directions from UGC both to Delhi University and all the 64 colleges under it to conduct admission under the three-year under-graduate programme and not under the FYUP.
"It is matter between the UGC and the University as to what course correction they will take...The most important factor is whatever action has taken it should make sure that the interest of students is protected," he said.
