Union Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha today expressed dissatisfaction over the attitude of banks in Jharkhand towards "Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana".

"Bank ka ravaiya 'Jan Dhan Yojana' ke upar thik nahin hain (attitude of banks towards the programme is not satisfactory)," Sinha told reporters here.

He said this in reply to a media query on the approach of banks in Jharkhand towards the central scheme that enabled the people to have access to financial services.

Sinha was here along with BJP's national vice-president Raghuvar Das for campaigning for the first phase of state assembly elections on November 25.

"Work on the Rs 14,000-crore project of NTPC at Tandwa in Chatra district began about a month ago though the foundation stone was laid by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee over a decade ago," Sinha said.

Alleging that the erstwhile UPA government did not give attention to Jharkhand because of unstable governments engaging in "looting" welfare funds, he said, "electricity is the top priority for the Central government and a clear majority for BJP in the state would enable development on a fast track.
