AUC delegation to visit India

An African Union Commission (AUC) delegation will undertake a four-day visit to India beginning tomorrow during which the Joint Action Plan of Enhanced Framework of Cooperation aimed at strengthening ties in key areas of economic and security will be adopted.

The plan was jointly developed at the second India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-II) in Addis Ababa in 2011 to deepen India-Africa strategic partnership to promote sustainable development, and to implement outcomes of the First India-Africa Forum Summit.

The Plan will be adopted on Friday during the visit of the four-member delegation, led by Ambassador Jean-Baptiste Natama, Chief of Staff of the Bureau of the AUC Chairperson, the External Affairs Ministry said here today, adding implementation of the programmes especially in the area of capacity building has already begun.
 

Arrangements are being put in place for the visiting delegation to have a detailed discussion with Indian institutions and agencies that are involved in implementation of the IAFS -II decisions, the ministry said.

The delegation is also scheduled to call on Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur and will participate in an interactive session with the Heads of African Missions here.
