Auckland Jute Mill at Jagatdal in North 24 Parganas reopened today after almost 40 days after its management suspended work due to labour unrest.
"The mill is now open after a meeting with the trade unions," Auckland executive director H S Baid told PTI.
He said 10-11 workers behind the unrest could not be expelled after the trade unions asked the mill management to reopen without sacking them and the unions would now take step to ensure law and order in the plant.
Baid said the management agreed to reopen the mill as it was over a month since the mill was closed and some 3,500 workers have been affected due to the suspension of work.
