With this the online auction house is launching a new platform "The Story" that offers curated collections of rare, beautiful and significant objects for sale for limited period of time ranging from one to three weeks.
These collections offer opportunities to acquire objects, either to enhance a personal collection or to give as gifts during the current festival season.
Publications on ancient and modern art and architecture, from the library of a distinguished collector is among the first collection on offer at the site.
It includes rare books on architectural sites such as Khajuraho, Ajanta and Ellora, Konarak, and Elephanta authored or edited by notable scholars such as Mulk Raj Anand, Hermann Goetz, Mukul Dey, Charles Fabri, Stella Kramrisch, Kanwar Lal, Geeta Kapur, Dnyaneshwar Nadkarni, Ulli Beier and Benjamin Rowland.
In the early 1970s following a severe draught in Bihar, the All India Handicrafts Board sponsored a program to support women who created ceremonial floor paintings and murals to mark auspicious occasions. They were given paper for the first time and asked to transfer the works they would normally paint on the walls and floors of their homes to this "new" surface.
Some of these Mithila paintings are on offer for sale.

"Why consume something that is gone in a moment when you can collect something of lasting value?... We hope The Story helps people acquire or gift an object that lasts a lifetime, and set out on new and exciting journeys as informed collectors," says Dinesh Vazirani, CEO and Co-founder of Saffronart.
Collections have been curated by experts such as Simran Lal of Good Earth, Rajeev Samant of Sula Wines, Nadia Samdani of the Dhaka Art Summit, Charu Sachdev of TSG and Faiza Seth of Casa Forma, amongst others. MORE
