Indian racer Aditya Patel finished sixth in the 2016 Audi R8 LMS Cup drivers standings, ending his second season in the championship with a podium at the Shanghai International Circuit here.
Patel's second place in the 12th and final round here yesterday was his first podium finish of the season. The 28-year-old finished the season in sixth place with 80 points.
He had finished fourth in his debut season in 2015, when he stormed to victory in the final race here on this very track.

Former Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong won the championship by a single point to clinch his third straight title.
"It was pretty much a repeat of last year, as far as this weekend was concerned," said Patel after the double header.
"An issue in qualifying meant I had to start last in race one, but I knew I had the pace to qualify well for race 2. The fight with Rump was good, but I know I had the pace in the car to win. Yes, that aspect is disappointing but it's nice to end a tough season with a fighting podium," he added.
