Ruling out any future rift in their folk-centric Bangla band, which will churn out another 'Jatra Suru', Bhoomi frontman Surojit Chatterjee today said the audience pull will keep the bands ticking.
"Just as me and Soumitra, another key man of our band, separately cut albums of different genres of music for self-exploration, but again we remain rooted to Bhoomi, we will not be allowed to part ways by our fans and we don't want either," the Bangla rockstar said on the sidelines of 'Fungama Nights', a rock concert with three leading bands in the city.
Referring to the over 4,000 crowd turnout at a Bhoomi event at Panagarh two days back, Surojit said "There are requests for over decade old and recent Bhoomi numbers in Mofussil areas and in city. The audience is evolving in the sense they want to hear the old tracks with present day acoustics feel but they again remain the same as they don't want the lyrics and the subject tampered with."
"Bhloomi has to bring out another album for these loyal fans," Surojit said.
Another Bhoomi lead artiste and playback singer Soumitra said "The typical band flavour at these concerts shows the numbers for this tpe of contemporary, soulful, peppy music is pushing up."
"There is no place to perform our solo numbers from mine Rabi o Nabin and Surojit's new folk album at band events and that shows band gharana is here to stay," the 'Kam sarchhe" man said.
Cactus spearhead and music director Sidhu said, "One key person leaving the band doesn't mean much as we as a band continue to connect with the audience live," Sidhu was referring to Pota a key band member parting ways after his stint into Big Boss reality show.
"New bands are coming up and young and not-so-young bands (age-wise) like Cactus still get packed houses and high fives from the crowd. Anyone of us can leave but the band will be live and kicking."
The Tuborg Strong Fungama Nights, a unique eastern region concert highlighting leading and upcoming Bangla bands, representing different genres of music, also witnessed the performance of Prachi.
