In a bid to improve the image of police among the public, Special Inspector General of Police Vishwas Nangre Patil has asked officials of Aurangabad range to desist from keeping film songs, loud sounds or bird chirping as ringtone of their mobile phone.

"It has been observed that ringtones of police officers and personnel in the range are either film songs, loud sounds or chirping of birds. Because of such ringtones, the image of police among common man is taking a beating," he said in an order sent to all police superintendents in Marathwada region.

"It should be ensured that the mobile ringtone of police officers and personnel is appropriate and nice," the senior IPS officer said.

"Heads of departments in the force should issue instructions accordingly to police personnel under their jurisdiction," the Special IG said.
