The issue of civil nuclear cooperation is also expected to figure very high when India will also host Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper in the first week of November. India and Canada, which has the world's largest reserves of high- grade low-cost uranium, inked a civil nuclear agreement in 2010 but not much progress has been made since then.

However, official sources said the specific dates for Harper's visit were yet to be finalised.

Noting that Gillard's three-day visit here will provide an opportunity to India to push for early supply of uranium from Australia, which was in the process of working out internal arrangements to ensure supply of the yellow cake to New Delhi.

"The Australian Foreign Minister is also expected to come here to prepare the agenda for the Prime Ministerial visit," sources said.

In December last year, Australia's ruling Labour Party led by Gillard cleared the way for export of Australian uranium to India after a strong debate on the floor of the party's 46th national conference.

Despite resistance from opponents, the landmark policy change was carried out, paving the way for the first Australian country-to-country agreement to sell yellow cake to a nation outside the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.

Apart from civil nuclear cooperation, ways to boost bilateral trade ties and other other strategic issues are expected to be discussed during the visits of Australian and Canadian Prime Ministers.
