Aussie students visit TN varsity

As many as 15 students from Australia got to see for themselves India's varied farming practices during their visit to the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here.

The students were on a three-day visit to the University to learn about Indian agriculture. The main purpose was to know about the village life, farming practices, crops grown, animal husbandry and organic farming, a TNAU statement said today.

During their visit, which concluded today, the students were taken for a field visit to Odaikulam village near Pollachi, where different crops like coconut, nutmeg, pepper and cocoa were grown,

They were eager to know about rice cultivation in ayacut and organic farming practices for different crops and also cocoa and nutmeg processing, the release said.
 

The students are doing BSc (Agriculture) and BSc (Animal Husbandry) courses at La Trobe University and the visit is part of their course, the release said.
