Press Trust of India Chandigarh
Punjab Education Minister Daljeet Singh Cheema today said Australia will not refuse the visa application of students who have passed their class 12th examination Punjab School Education Board (PSEB).

"Australian government has clarified that a visa application has not and will not be refused on the basis of a qualification from PSEB," Cheema said here.

Education and Training Department of Australian government has written to PSEB Chairperson Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal making it clear that neither in the past had any visa been refused with regard to students obtaining educational qualifications from PSEB nor in coming days would such an action be taken, he said.

"Australian government has also clarified that under the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement, findings are not made on the basis of one factor alone and each application is assessed on its individual merits," Cheema said.

Confusion prevailed among students earlier amid reports that Australian authorities were not issuing visas to students who have passed 10+2 examination from Punjab School Education Board.
