An auto driver was beaten to death allegedly by a passenger after a brawl over paying fare in Link Road area of Ghaziabad here.
The incident took place late last night when the auto driver, Sohan Pal asked the passenger, Shivam to pay the fare, police said.
"Shivam boarded Sohan's auto last night and asked him to take him to his Sahibabad village. When the auto reached his village, Shivam suddenly got off the vehicle and started walking ahead without paying the fare. When the auto driver asked him to pay the fare he refused resulting in brawl between the two," a senior police officer said.
In the fight, Shivam hit the auto driver with a stone, killing him on the spot, the officer said.
The accused, who is also an auto driver, has been arrested and further investigation is on.
