Auto driver shot dead accidentally in marriage

An auto driver died after he was hit by a bullet accidentally fired by a drunk man at a family function in Jafrabad area, police said today.

Pawan (35) was dancing in a relative's marriage in Ghonda area yesterday when another invitee Sitaram took out his licenced rifle for celebratory firing, they said.

"As people tried to prevent him from firing in the party, a scuffle broke out. In the midst of the scuffle, a bullet was shot which hit Pawan, killing him on the spot," said a police official.

The matter was immediately reported to the police. However, Sitaram, who hails from Agra, fled the scene with the rifle.
 

A case has been registered against him and manhunt launched to nab him, police said.

Pawan, who is survived by his wife and two children, lived in Karawal area.
