3D design and entertainment software maker Autodesk today said it is working with Pinnacle Infotech Solutions to deploy its Building Information Modelling (BIM) solutions across architecture and engineering sectors.

BIM solutions allow users to construct 'smart' and 'computable' three-dimensional (3D) model of the project to enhance its design, construction and operation.

Pinnacle has completed more than 4,000 large BIM projects spread across 18 countries like Muscat and Dubai International Airport, Kingdom Tower in Saudi Arabia, University of Maryland Baltimore in the US and TCS SEZ in Adibatla, India.

"As we aim to grow our business globally, we believe standardising on Autodesk BIM is a strategic choice to meet this goal," Pinnacle Infotech Solutions CEO Bimal Patwari told PTI.

BIM adoption is gaining momentum in India with 22 per cent of firms in AEC sectors adopting BIM.

"Given the scale of investments in infrastructure and construction projects in India, BIM would help us derive cost and time savings in such mega-projects, while ensuring sustainability. We see a lot of opportunities in India," Autodesk India and SAARC Head AEC Sunil MK said.

He added that the government's focus on the infrastructure, especially with smart cities, will provide further impetus to the growth in adoption of BIM solutions in India.
