The autopsy of the body of a 14-year-old Dalit rape victim, who was forced to drink a corrosive substance, was today conducted, police said today.

The autopsy was carried out by a medical board at Maulana Azad Medical College, a senior police official said.

The death of the minor victim prompted DCW chief Swati Maliwal to lash out at the Centre and Delhi police on the issue of women's safety.

An FIR was registered against the main accused Shiv Shankar, a neighbour of the victim, at Burari police station under Sections 363 (kidnapping), 376 (rape) of the IPC and provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was arrested by the police on December 27.

The victim had alleged she was kidnapped by the maternal aunt of the main accused and during confinement she was raped several times a day by Shiv Shankar. Her hands and feet were tied and was starved.

The victim also alleged that Shiv Shankar along with his maternal aunt and uncle had fed her a corrosive substance mixed in a soft drink.
