: A recently married autorickshaw driver was hacked to death in broad daylight by four persons at a locality at nearby Manthithoppu, leading to tension in and around this town, police said

They said the man was on his way to a meat shop at Teresa Nagar when the gang on motorbikes waylaid him and hacked him to death.

They later severed his head and threw it on the road, causing panic among the people, police said.

The gang later surrendered before police and were arrested.

Police suspect the murder was a fallout of a quarrel at a temple festival at Kechilapuram recently.

Meanwhile relatives of the autorickshaw driver ransacked the house of two of the accused at Kechilapuram.
