An autorickshaw driver was killed when his three-wheeler was hit by a train on Barwadih-Barkakana section under Dhanbad division of East Central Railway, a police officer said.
A football team from Sonsh, Chanho was travelling in the autorickshaw to take part in tournament at Devi mandap ground in Mahumilan village when a wheel of it got stuck in the track as it was passing by a level crossing, police said.
All the players got down and started pushing from behind to free the autorickshaw with the victim, Mangra Oraon, a resident of Sonsh, starting the engine.
All the passengers ran away on seeing the fast approaching train, which hit the autorickshaw killing Oraon on the spot, police said.
