"Administrative action against autorickshaws will begin from tomorrow after the meeting with their trade unions," Mitra said.

He said the I-Card has been mandatory for autorickshaw drivers which should be collected from owners or the police or trade union bodies.

The police have been asked to act against autorickshaws not following specified routes, he said.

He said that high-security number plates would be made mandatory not only for buses, minibuses and taxis, but also for autorickshaws as per guidelines.

A meeting of the Group of Ministers on Transport would be held soon to streamline the transport system.

"Several important steps will be taken to streamline the entire transport infrastructure keeping in mind the convenience and safety of passengers," the minister said.
