The local chapter of FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) today launched an awareness campaign on girl child abuse, including differentiating between 'good touch and bad touch'.
The campaign +Shakthi+ was part of FLO's three year initiative to educate girl child on issues related to abuse, women's rights and remedial actions, thereby empowering them for the future, Shrivyashnavi Annush, Chairperson FLO, said at the launch.
A hour-long session was conducted as part of the campaign, in association with Art of Living, at Seva Nilayam, a children's home for girls in need of rehabilitation providing free education and vocational skills, with a mission to empower the orphaned and abandoned girl child.

Issues to be covered are prevention of potentially dangerous situation, differenting between good touch and bad touch, gauging abusive overtures and behaviour from close relatives, friends and how to deal with the situation, what to do and whom to contact and their legal rights in such a situation, Shrivyshnavi said.
The district social welfare officer, R Ambika inaugurated the event and said that the campaign should be taken to villages and the parents of girl children should also be involved in the campaign.
